IThroughout 2017, Médecins du Monde continued to stand by the most vulnerable populations and social groups.
Refugees are without a doubt included in these groups. Faithful to the idea that every human being should have access to healthcare, Médecins du Monde have been able to provide medical assistance to thousands of people who are trapped in Greece.
We maintained our daily presence in four geographical different regions in mainland Greece and in more than fifteen Refugee and Migrant accommodation centres (camps) , providing support to these persons that have been forced to flee their homelands.
During 2017, Médecins du Monde operated 3 accommodation facilities for asylum-seekers and unaccompanied minors. With emphasis on a holistic approach, all MdM structures provided housing, food, appropriate accommodation and personal hygiene conditions, psychosocial support services, legal advice, education and entertainment, thus covering all the basic needs of these very vulnerable individuals, families and unaccompanied minors seeking protection in Greece.
