Μental Ηealth  was a main concern for Médecins du Monde during 2017. In the belief that mental health is as important as physical health, MdM have implemented and continue to implement a series of programmes providing counselling to people in need.

Throughout the year, MdM teams provided mental health services in Chios and Lesvos, two of the islands with the largest number of refugee arrivals; in most of the Refugee and Migrant accommodation centres (camps) on the mainland; in the polyclinic of the “Emergency Case Management Unit” operating in the centre of Athens; and at the shelter for Unaccompanied Minors, also operating in the centre of Athens.

The holistic approach of  Médecins du Monde during each interaction with patients, has been extremely important to all the persons that have sought assistance on a daily base, as it has helped them regain access to their fundamental human rights.
